Wednesday night I went to do some late night figure drawing. Here are some drawings from my session.
Below are some of the final sketches from my gesture drawing class. The last theme of the class was 60’s fashion–the model was wearing a super-cute Audrey coat. I have to admit, my Monday evenings won’t be as much fun without gesture sketching class, but I look forward to finding/joining another sketching class. I’m bummed that this class ended, but I got some terrific practice in and I am excited to keep up the progress I made.
How could I dance with another? When I saw her standing there.
(Nothing peps me up quite like drawing to The Beatles! :D)
After work on Monday evenings I’ve been going to gesture sketching classes instructed by David Pimentel, and they’ve been so awesome to experience. I’ve been getting great practice in and I feel like I’ve been making some tremendous progress–just loosening up and going to bigger, bolder lines and shapes and most importantly, I feel like I’m getting a better hang of how to convey caricature and story through my sketches. Capturing story moments in a drawing has always been a tricky thing for me, so I am so excited to see that I’m continuing to make progress on that front. This class has helped me so much, Mr. Pimentel’s suggestions and encouragement are very helpful and I am eager to keep up the sketching sessions on a regular basis. Below are a few of my sketches from this class. One of the themes was a Parisian cafe and the other was a western cowgirl theme. I really am having a blast with all this drawing!
CTN is this weekend! I’m delighted to be able to take part in this incredible event this year. I went last year and loved getting to meet so many artists and learn so many new things. Attending CTN last year truly pushed me a lot as an artist and I’m excited for folks who will be going for the first time this weekend. There are a lot of great opportunities to learn new things and meet great artists, so I am eager to share a bit of my experiences after this weekend.
I’ve been working on updating my portfolio a bit recently to prepare for CTN. Today I was working a lot on costumed figure drawing. Below is what I sketched up :
